Social work's core ethical responsibilities include taking action to promote social change in service of vulnerable and oppressed populations. Many of these individuals and communities have been impacted by trauma as well as systems unresponsive to the unique needs of the population group. This course of study provides a framework for considering the impact of trauma and oppression when working across systems. Optional courses allow students the opportunity to target this learning toward different interests.
Completion of the certificate can reinforce civic responsibility, actively supporting the common good through knowledge of difference, theoretical applications toward reducing systemic factors which inhibit wellbeing in our communities.
Many in human services benefit from targeted approaches to trauma, cultural humility, and ethics. Understanding garnered from this course of study will enhance employability through the theories and strategies learned in this certificate program.
