ENGR 440. Control Systems Engineering. 3 Credits.
Control Systems Engineering is an undergraduate course in electrical engineering that introduces the modeling, analysis, and design of feedback control systems across electrical, mechanical, thermal, and electromechanical domains. Students learn to predict system responses and use controllers to achieve desired performance, covering classical techniques such as time- and frequency-domain analysis, Laplace transforms, transfer functions, block diagrams, root locus, Bode plots, and stability assessment. Both continuous and digital control strategies are explored, including PID controllers, state and output feedback controllers, and observer-based state reconstruction.
